Nespresso, fun in San Francisco!

(This post has been updated and is permitted publicly from last year's shoot.)

Last year, I did a commercial photo shoot for Nespresso. I have never drank that many shots of espresso in one day and I was so hyper the whole time when we were shooting photos inside Nespresso boutique San Francisco. "Overly joyous" is probably the best word to describe me that day. Well, in fact, not only because of the espresso I had from the whole morning, but also the fun charisma inside Nespresso boutique that made me super ecstatic. Everything displayed in the boutique is so neat and chic including colorful and various coffee capsules, and pretty cups, mugs and saucers...etc. If it weren't because I was sort of working, I would have bought me some cute espresso shot glasses home already. Wait, I almost forgot to mention that they also serve full range of dessert and some savories along with fancy coffee drinks in the upper, street level. The store intends to ply their customers with all the tasty treats from local bakery in San Francisco and I definitely can imagine me and my girlfriends enjoy an afternoon tea there in the near future.

I didn't get any photos in the upper, street level as we were photographing. I will leave it to you to explore then. But I can tell ya that they have espresso bar at street level and allow customers to sit, rest, chat, browse their coffee machines as well as its functionality on IPad...(errrr....what can I say, it is almost a staple of a hip store nowadays.) and I happened to play with it while doing the photo shooting.  Thus, I actually had a good idea of which coffee machine i covet for myself. lol.....

Now you almost can spot Nespresso boutique around the world. I spotted several while we were traveling in southern France too.  If you ever visit SF, make sure you plan a morning snacks or afternoon tea there if you are in San Francisco.  You won't be disappointed!

Kendra Thornton Fashion Challenge!!!

It's Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday and finally I have a break from my hectic schedule to update my blog.  I was contacted by the travel expert Kendra Thornton to participate in her upcoming "Trip to Miami" challenge. The Challenge is that Kendra asked me to create a wardrobe for her trip to South Beach, where she’s going to be vacationing with her husband. How romantic~

Ok, here is a little bio of her.
Kendra is a mother of three. She is a well known travel expert and has been featured on several news channels and shows such as Tyra Banks and Nate Berkus. She wants to look chic, comfortable yet trendy while travel and I believe the looks I created for her is going to make everyone turn head for her. Best yet, I picked one dress from Roland Mouret for her. Ooh la la~~~

Here is the email and style requests from Kendra.

I haven't been able to spend time along with my hubby for awhile. We are always going places for work or with the kids. It's going to be a great change just to get away and be with one another in Miami. I love this city for all of its beauty and fashion appeal. When I started to look at Miami and I found that a lot of the hotels in South Beach were quite posh and luxurious, which made me take a second look at my wardrobe. I'm in desperate need of some help.
Part of our trip will be spent at the Delano South Beach Hotel. Gogobot has a ton of pictures of this place, and it's absolutely gorgeous. The interiors feature hardwood floors, tall windows, tufted furniture and a large swimming pool steps from the beach. Our suite is incredibly nice, and I feel so lucky to have gotten this hotel room with my husband. He also went all out and reserved me a day at the hotel's spa called Club Essentia. Going to this hotel is a dream come true, and I want some outfits that are perfect for the swanky atmosphere but can also translate to going to the beach or walking around Miami's fashion boutiques, museums and art galleries.
When I go to Club Essentia, it would be awesome to have a look that's very comfortable that I can change in and out of easily. I'll be getting some beauty treatments and even a massage so i feel super relaxed. Afterwards, I think we'll walk around South Beach at night and find some great places to dance and grab a few drinks. For these evenings, a beautiful dress and some heels to match would be ideal. We'll probably take a look around Little Havana and maybe even catch a boat ride out to the islands surrounding Miami beaches too. A new swimsuit would certainly help me spice up my mommy wardrobe even more. I'll be taking pictures during our adventures and sharing them with all my family and friends.

Jeans over Jeans!

I am loving that little kitten flats so much and I like the name of it: Sun kissed kitten. Lovely, isn't it!? I was actually in a hunt for a summer white denim jeans but got this pin stripped from Madewell instead. Anyhow, the jeans is comfy and a perfect fit on me. A structured blazer always makes the whole look put-together, besides, I love red and blue together....

J Crew denim shirt, Madewell stripped jeans, Charlotte Olympia flats, Hermes Constance, J Crew necklace, Joseph red blazer.

Summer love, love summer~

The Best Gluten-free Zucchini with Smoked Gouda Savory Scones.

Again, it is time for more scones. This time I found a generic gluten-free recipe online and I made it into both sweet and savory scones of my twisted version. They are moist inside and crunchy on crust outside.  I am quite happy with the taste and here I share with y'all. I keep the sugar in my savory scones as I don't think coconut palm sugar is that sweet  neither does it compromise the sensation of savory scones.  Here I want to credit the original recipe to Glutenfreelove (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/BEST-EVER-GLUTEN-FREE-SCONES-50121233) Thanks you for this awesome inspiration.

A prefect Sunday Brunch Scone.

My twisted recipe where i sub. 2 eggs with egg white only, sugar with Coconut palm sugar and milk with almond milk, butter with coconut oil. So basically, this is a lactose-free, gluten-free and casein-free scone. My friend, Isabel, suggested to sub. eggs with apple sauce for its moist so you can avoid egg as well.  I have yet to try it myself but I love my egg white in my scones so I will keep it for now.

Zucchini with Smoked Gouda Savory Scones

ingredients:
  1. 1 3/4 cups Gluten-Free Oat Flour/Oatmeal
  2. scant 1/3 cup coconut palm sugar
  3. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum
  5. 1 tablespoon salt
  6. 1/4 cup coconut oil
  7. 1/3 cup shredded smoked Gouda (or as much as you like in your scone)
  8. 1 regular sized zucchini, cut into small stripes
  9. 1/3 egg white/egg beater
  10. 1/3 cup almond milk

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a large baking sheet (or line with parchment).

Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, xanthan gum and salt.

The coconut oil can either be solid or melt it (microwave it until it slighted melted), cut/crumble into small bits

Whisk together the egg white, almond milk, until frothy. Add to the dry ingredients, stirring until well blended. The dough should be cohesive and very sticky.

Gently stir in the smoked Gouda and Zucchini into combined mixture.

Place on a gf floured surface. Pat out to about 1 in. thick (do not attempt to roll out - the dough will be too sticky for this and adding more flour will only create a dry, dense, result) .  Use large ice-cream scoop to scoop the dough or spoon to separate the dough into 6-8 balls on the pan. Gently press down in the center.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Try new recipe for your taste buds.

No Jeans; Slacks, Please!

I love casual trousers, they are comfortable and they are chic. I wear slacks more often than jeans for some reason and personally I think trousers are more versatile than jeans in terms of the different looks you are projecting for.  Play with the proportion, volume on your tops and you will be surprised that how charming you can be in a pair of laid-back pants.

Man-repeller!!

As promised, my man-repeller look. Not sure if this also falls into the category of a fashion stereotype??? Season's hottest trend, prints!  Except those pieces are all from past season which might self justify that I am not a chaser of trends blindly.

Even though I have all the past season pieces here, they look quite fresh altogether, right?? Oh, other than a comment from my "male" friend on FB: He thoughts the look is a blast from the past!!! lol..

Now that I take a second look of it, it actually quite fun. Not so bad, eh??? Well, we do self expressive through our looks, our attitudes, and once you have the right attitude toward things,  anything goes your way eventually. Agree???

Think positive, love yourself, and keep it up!

Enjoy your mid week!!
