The Best Gluten-free Zucchini with Smoked Gouda Savory Scones.

Again, it is time for more scones. This time I found a generic gluten-free recipe online and I made it into both sweet and savory scones of my twisted version. They are moist inside and crunchy on crust outside.  I am quite happy with the taste and here I share with y'all. I keep the sugar in my savory scones as I don't think coconut palm sugar is that sweet  neither does it compromise the sensation of savory scones.  Here  I want to credit the original recipe to Glutenfreelove (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/BEST-EVER-GLUTEN-FREE-SCONES-50121233) Thanks you for this awesome inspiration.  A prefect Sunday Brunch Scone.  My twisted recipe where i sub. 2 eggs with egg white only, sugar with Coconut palm sugar and milk with almond milk, butter with coconut oil. So basically, this is a lactose-free, gluten-free and casein-free scone. My friend, Isabel , suggested to sub. eggs with apple sauce for its moist ...

Gluten free oat flour scone with ground flaxseed, chia seed and dry nectarine!

By now you probably can tell that I am a huge scone fan. I love scones but I can't really seem to find the perfect gluten-free scone with low Glycemic index out in the market. I know, there are Vegan variety available but most of them use sugar cane or agave syrup which doesn't really fight the craving nor hunger but makes the blood sugar spikes up and down. Then I'd crave for more snacks later on, so, what's the point of eating those, right?? Well, I don't have diabetes but I do demand all the ingredients to be top quality and meet my high healthy standards... which I know, you'd say, make your own then!! So this is exactly what I did and I am always on the lookout for a perfect scone recipe.  The fun part of making my own scones is "the various dry ingredients" I can roll inside my scones.  I have tried raisins, slivered almond, cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, goji berries, and even flaxseed and whey isolated protein ...

Gluten Free Power Oat Barn Scone with Flaxseed, and Fresh Fruits (strawberry or banana)

I think this scone recipe is the easiest I've ever reinvented. I made couple times with either freshly chopped strawberries or sliced bananas, they are equally tasty and satisfying. Those scones are also low in glycemic index which is perfect for someone who is watching their sugar intake. You can eat them with strawberry jam or a bit whip cream on top, aw....  simply divine!!!  Here is the recipe.  Gluten-free Oat bran banana/strawberry Scones 2 cups (GF) oat bran 1/2 cup almond meal ( or you can put raw almonds in food processor to ground your own almond meal)    1/3 cup ground Flax n' berries mix (sold at Whole Foods Market)  1 scoop Whey Protein isolates ( powder in a resealable bag sold at Whole Foods Market) 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. sea salt _________________________ 1/2 cup non-dairy milk/soy milk 1/3 cup oil/butter ; cut the butter to coarse cubes or just scoop the coconut oil out of jar (coconut oil works great and...

Gluten-free Basil Lemon Chicken Meal.

Once a while I would like to cook a meal for myself and enjoy its nice presentation before I dig in.  Today's main course is Basil Lemon Chicken . I gathered that idea from doing grocery shopping. Normally the supermarket sells pre-packaged lemon basil chicken and I thought why don't I do that myself at home.  And since this is gluten-free meal, rest of the ingredients are carefully selected.  Lemon basil chicken: Skinless and boneless chicken thighs, 1 lemon and extra slices, whole basil and chopped basil, dash salt and pepper, and some olive oil. Instruction: preheat oven 400F  1.  Quinoa Use 2:1 liquid and quinoa ratio to cook quinoa for 20 mins. You will have a fluffy quinoa.  2. Pan fry basil lemon chicken 2 mins in both side when you have that pretty brown coloring. Transfer chicken to a oven-proof dish and bake 15 mins.  3. Heat Balsamic vinegar on the stove in "high" in the pan and whisk constantly to preven...

Italian sausage fried rice.

I made this Italian sausage fried rice the other day. Kids and hubby absolutely love it. It is flavorful in a sense that the sausage has its fat and saltiness that you don't need to add much condiments at all. Here is my simple ingredient list. You are welcome to try. It is so simple that the only chopping is the sausage and the only tip is throwing ingredients in one at a time. You don't want a soggy and watery fried rice so you have to add soy sauce to taste little by little.  Ingredients 2  italian sausage  (chopped and I used ready to eat after heated)  2 eggs (beaten or not beaten doesn't matter) 2 bowl of leftover/cold rice 1  garlic clove  (minced) 2 tablespoon  water ( to soften the rice before you add to the Wok if rice is previously refrigerated)  1 tsp  salt 1 tablespoon soy sauce/oyster sauce (depends on your preference and taste)  1 4  tsp  hot pepper sauce 1 cup  frozen peas  (don't nee...

Life Style: Brown rice bread bakery in Taipei.

Ever since I started Dr. Frank Lipman's detox diet, I finally realized my stomach is sensitive to "WHEAT". After I finished two weeks of detox drinks by Dr. Frank Lipman, I also learned that there are lots of food that I think they are healthy but they actually are not.  And that's the reason of no matter how much or how little I ate, my stomach hurts and I feel bloating after meals.  Now Dr. Frank Lipman's eating choices becomes my guideline thus, mostly Gluten free diet.  I promote healthy eating and healthy life style to all my friends and I know some of them benefit from the same good result as me.  Still, there are other friends of mine joked that they think I am going to be starved in Taipei cause' it seems almost impossible to stick with a diet of no wheat, no egg, no milk diet. Obviously, they are so wrong. In fact, Asian diet is considered to be low fat, and low cholesterol thus healthier.  I even found a tasty brown-rice bread bakery in Taipei. Wo...
