Fashions fade, style is eternal! ~Yves Saint Laurent

Outfit from GIVENCHY BY RICCARDO TISCI
I came across this whole outfit when browsing through fashion magazines which I bought early of ti's spring. I guess by then, neither did I have the fuchsia tulip skirt nor the pleated shirt so I never would think of pairing them would be so eye-popping!!! lol

You know what is great about fashion itself?!! You can review it and get inspired every time, and everywhere!........ flipping through. the same magazine couple times then you might figure out a "style" of your own!!! Try it, I think it works for me and might work for you!!

Like me, I never intended to buy those pieces to wear together as I got the orange-pink origami skirt in Taipei and the spaghetti strap top is bought in Camel last weekend which I intended to pair w/ another pants!! But now I am ready to put them all together for a test drive!!

My ODJ!

1. TOP:
  • Mara Huffman silk pleated spaghetti strap top w/ bow n' matching pleated belt in gray
  • Mcginn cropped blazer

(right)Mara Hoffman walk the runway at the Mara Hoffman Fall 2009 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 15, 2009 in New York City. (info. n' pic. courtesy of zimbio.com)

This coming Fall 2009 expect lots of knits layered over fitted separates as well as the beautiful chiffon gowns as shown above in Mara Hoffman's runway show.

2. BOTTOM: IROO orange-pink origami skirt
3. ACCESSORY:
  • Diesel gladiator heel
  • Chanel matte white reissue 227

From the pic. I think a pair of ankle strap gladiator (like on the model) heels does complement the short and bubbly skirt very well!!

It's the pleated shirt to make this style unique and exquisite.

I choose this cropped blazer over boyfriend blazer (shown on the mag.) as my ensemble is more fun and cute as a little cocktail dress!!

So you just have to find a style that suits you and don't just copy whatever out there!! Did I convince you that you can be creative and also be yourself at the same time!!! :)

Another great ensemble Rachel!! Haha...you really like short skirts, huh? I love your new top. The bow and the details are so cute together. Haha...with your cropped blazer, it's totally a cute tuxedo look!

What a coincidence! Coz I just posted about Givenchy too on my blog! They are my 2 new Givenchy shoes! Haha...I think you need one of those pairs for your ensemble today. You can take a look at them.

BTW, I thought "Fashions fade, style is eternal" is a quote from Coco Chanel? (She said it in French, "La mode se démode, le style jamais.") So, I guess this quote is from lots of designers including Yves Saint Laurent...

Michelle/Mia
Hi, Michelle: yap, interesting quote, right?!! As I searched it online, there are couple saying from YSL....then I also saw one quote the same thing from Coco...so I really don't know who says those words at the first place. well... whatever....they are all avant-garde in Fashion business anyway.

wow..gotta check it out as I am thinking of getting a pair of shoes before f/w....haha.... so I will see you later!!!

Rachel - such a cute and stylish creation! It reminded me of Irene's tuxedo top that she wore in Vegas especially with the pleated front... though you both carry it off differently.

Thanks for the headsup on Niel's party! We're looking forward to the invite so hopefully, our kids can meet in person!
Hi, Betsy: thanks. Yes, I think our tops do have its similarity. I love the BOW on her vest/tank very much!

Yes, I might just send an evite out as normally I send out cards in the mail. I like to do it as old fashion way. ahaha.... well, not this year..last min. decision.

Sure, be sure to check out your email. :)

Rachel - Another great outfit! Your interpretation of the outfit from the magazine was dead on!!! Love your skirt and tank, very cute.... Are your really hoping for a Birkin for xmas this year? (I read from your other post that you are refraining from buying more clothes because you want a birkin) I hope you get one and can't wait to see how you work it into your already fabulous ensembles.

Rachel,

if you cound find a pink bubble short skirt from your closet, you have a big wardrobe!

that is really a lovely outfit!
Hi, Isabel:
you know, we talked...A birkin is just another fab. bag and I really don't think I need that vain just yet. :)

Oh, hope you will get your money back ASAP then.

Thanks, sis. @<@
Huh?
Julia: Why?
I got that in Taiwan and I am impressed as it is a local brand but great tailor. It is only $50 around and I am so happy w/ the 3D origami/bubble shape after I purchased.

you know, I still believe my wardrobe is 10 times smaller than yours...haha...

Woah! :D I got inspired. I just bought my self a grey cropped-ish boyfriend blazer and I didn't know what to pair it with till I saw this post(google!). :D

But I don't have a bubble skirt so I'm replacing it with a high waisted skirt. ;P It was so much helpppp. x)

It has been a while since the last time DH and I went out for a DATE!! Well, I guess a real DATE is just too luxury for us having 3 young children and it always needs a special arrangement for it to happen. Ilona won't go to preschool until this fall so hopefully by then, DH and I will have more romantic date-out alone!!! DH's Porsche is manual and I have no problem of driving it too. Thanks to my driving coach back in Taiwan so I can drive both manual and auto-shift cars!! :) I am not so into cars personally!...... IT to me is one kind of transportation means from destination A to destination B. :) Ilona sits pretty cozily at the back seat! Finally there is my Chanel 08' pink crystals brooch. My ODJ. 1.
